ANALYSE THREE TITLE SEQUENCES

Name of film: Seven (Thriller)
http://www.artofthetitle.com/title/se7en/
This title sequence is highly stylished based on its story as the moving images are presented in fast motion, making the audience feeling unconftible. The credits are presented randomly but in a way their style is accurate and re-thoughted. Every time when a credit comes up, there is a black screen in the background and in the foreground the actual credits are presented (mainly on the sides of the screen) in a small size, they are possibly hand-writed and white.

Micro Elements:
- Camera: closeup, camera moving
- Editing: fast cuts, fade, dark, depth of field, shadows
- Mise-en-scene: room (not clear), a book, pen, writing, selotape, fingers, darkroom
- Sound: weird noises, screaming (?), music, manipulated pre-recorded narrative

Macro Analysis:
What is the key plot idea introduced in the title sequence?
- It is not really clear what is thisopening scene introduced but based on the sounds and the way how the credits are presented, it creates an unconftible- sort of dark atmosphere.

Name of film: The usual suspects (Thriller/Crime)

The type of this title sequence is quite discrete, stylised and traditional because there is one moving image in the background and the credits are presented neatly. The colour of the credits are white and they are all in capital letters, placed on the sides of the screen in a medium size.
Micro Elements:
- Camera: moving from left to right, long shot
- Editing: no cut, no special effects, one long shot, really dark (almost black and white)
- Mise-en-scene: riverside-beach (?), really dark, lights are sparkling on the water
- Sound: dramatic music (classic), no other noise or narrative

Macro Analysis:
What is the key plot idea introduced in the title sequence?
- It is not really clear, formal way of presenting the credits (neat and clean)

Name of film: The American Horror Story (Horror)
http://www.artofthetitle.com/title/american-horror-story/
The type of this title sequence is really fast and stylised. The fonts are white and huge placed to engross the entire screen which is blank. It has its own font style that the film uses in each seasons. Personally, I find this title sequence the scariest of these three because of the sounds it uses and the different pictures captured.

Micro Elements:
- Camera: moving, closeups
- Editing: fast cuts, fast fade, invert, black and white, sophia, digitally made fire, dark
- Mise-en-scene: picture of old babies and old photographs, bones, legs/arms (body parts), white dress, fire, broken glass
- Sound: weird dramatic music (loud then quiet), as something burns, no narrative

Macro Analysis:
What is the key plot idea introduced in the title sequence?
- To make the audience unconftible and scared
- Specially, the music and other sounds hepl to get into the film's atmosphere.

In what order the storyline introduced?
  1. Actors
  2. Created by...
  3. Title
What characters are introduced? When and how?
- no characters introduced, some pictures of babies and children

What social groups are presented?
- Young kids are presented on a negative way. It is because they are burned up in the title sequence.
